The Anza Borrego Desert State Park is California's largest State Park and is filled with vast valleys, badlands, canyons, oases, and mountain ranges. Located east of San Diego this is a very popular San Diego weekend getaways fro families. This park provides hundreds of miles of hiking and riding trails that showcase scenic wildflowers, palm groves and cacti. This desert SP is also associated with gold mining and the visitors here still inquire about the famous Pegleg mine, although it has never been found. The visitor's park here provides all information about this vast desert park and the Palm Canyon Walk, near the Visitor Center, provides a 1.5 mile hike along a stream with a vigorous flow rate.
