Virginia is a beautiful American state located on the Atlantic Coast of the Southern United States. This wonderland is famous for its beaches. Still there are some good places other than beaches in Virginia, that you can visit with your family.

According to me, one of the best places for weekend getaways in Virginia is Blackwater Falls State Park. It is situated in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia. Blackwater state park is named for the falls of blackwater river which has tannic acid-darkened water. Because of the stunning beauty of black water falls, it is considered as one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.

This park has many great things to offer you in every season like – mountain air in the healthy summer, unique views in fall and snowy heaven in winter, that makes it one of the most adventures destinations in the state. This landmark offers you an opportunity to do swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, camping, hiking, hunting and around ten miles of park trails to enjoy incredible beauty of nature.

Blackwater Falls Canyon, Nature Center, Pendleton Falls, Pendleton Lake, Sled Run and Hiking and Cross Country skiing trails are the amazing attractions that visitors can find within this park. While on a visit to Blackwater falls park you can also visit some of the nearby attractions such as – Cathedral State Park, Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, Monongahela National Forest and Seneca Rocks Recreation Area.
