One of the best places to visit in Chicago is Navy Pier. It is a landmark of Chicago located off the shore of Lake Michigan. Navy Pier is open throughout the year, but the best time to visit this amazing place is summer. It gives number of opportunities to enjoy in summer. There are many seasonal attractions available during summer such as - bi-weekly fireworks, night-time entertainment and stunning outdoor performances. The Beer Garden and Bud Light Stage are great night-life options, since they give live music and libation opportunities to the visitors. Besides many shows and events are also held here.

Navy Pier is home to many recreational areas, great entertainment and exhibit. While on a visit to this wonderland, you will find 50,000-square-foot Chicago Children’s Museum, 440-seat IMAX Theater, exciting restaurants of 40,000 square feet, retail shops and Crystal Gardens, a 32,000-square-foot indoor botanical garden, that offers numerous activities and special receptions for family.

The most popular and exciting attraction of Navy Pier is the 148 ft Ferris Wheel that gives you a chance to view the city from 150 feet up in the air. Apart from this the other attractions that you can enjoy are- a musical carousel, an old-fashioned swing ride and an 18-hole miniature golf course, 1,500-seat Skyline Stage and as it is a starting point for many boat trips, you will find many options to enjoy boating as well.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is located in northwest Indiana along Lake Michigan’s southern shoreline. It is one of the most adventurous weekend getaways of Indiana, that covers thousands of acres of forest, marsh, dunes and beaches. The park is home to 1,500 species of plants ranging from arctic bearberry to cactus. Some of those that visitors can explore while visiting the park are - white and black-oak savannas, sedge meadows, tallgrass prairies, swamps, marshes, bogs, and fens. The best part is that, the park has 25 miles of white-sand beaches and wandering dunes such as Mount Baldy.

This park offers an incredible wild life, where in visitors can get to see many animals such as - whitetail deer, red fox, raccoons, opossums, cottontail rabbits, Canada geese, seagulls, hawks, turkey vultures, mallards, great blue herons, garter snakes, songbirds and rodents.

Besides, you can also enjoy numerous recreational activities like - swimming, climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, boating, picnicking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, environmental education programs and special events that are held throughout the year.

There are Visitor Center and Ranger-Led Programs available in the park. Visitor Center provides a great information outlet on the dunes area, its background and available activities. Rangers offer free walks and talks in the whole park on a daily basis.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore offers a great ecosystem which is rare to find and contributes in making this place, one of the best vacations getaways of Indiana.
