Assateague Island National Seashore is one of the best and an ideal weekend getaways for entire family. It is surrounded by the pounding surf of the Atlantic Ocean and shallow expanses of Chincoteague Bay. This is considered one of the best beaches on the entire East Coast and was established in 1962.

Assateague Island National Seashore is home to white sand beach, dunes, forest, marsh and bay in a wet and wild setting. The wild life of the island is wonderful. Here you can any time spot wild horses wandering around and beautiful birds, that this beach is popularly known for. It is home to the world famous Chincoteague Wild Ponies.
