The Dry Tortugas National Park, 70 miles west of Key West, is a wonderful park which comprises of seven small islands, coral reefs and other undersea attractions, and nesting areas for a variety of wild birds. The Dry Tortugas are an isolated outpost set apart from the mainland by the expansive waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The park includes some 64,657 acres and one of the major attractions here is the striking brick behemoth known as Ft. Jefferson. Beautiful tropical wildlife abundant sea life and colorful coral reefs, along with legends of shipwrecks and sunken treasures, amazing snorkeling, diving, bird-watching and star-gazing are amongst the major attractions here. This Tortugas National Park is only accessible by boat, ferry, seaplane and Jet Ski.
